What You'll Be Doing
Investigate and trace cryptocurrency transactions across public blockchains to support CBP's trade and travel security mission
Analyze decentralized finance platforms, crypto exchanges, and smart contract activity for patterns indicating illicit financial flows
Deliver actionable intelligence reports that inform enforcement decisions on both physical and cyberspace border crossings
Collaborate with cross-functional intelligence teams to build comprehensive risk assessments involving digital asset movement
Stay current on emerging blockchain protocols, distributed ledger innovations, and crypto laundering typologies
Support the development of tools and methodologies to improve detection of crypto-related threats
What We're Looking For
Active Security Clearance (required)
Demonstrated experience analyzing blockchain transactions, crypto wallets, or distributed ledger data
Strong understanding of how cryptocurrency, smart contracts, and web3 ecosystems function in practice
Analytical mindset with ability to translate complex blockchain data into clear, actionable intelligence
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for briefing non-technical stakeholders
Experience working within government, law enforcement, or intelligence community environments
Bonus Points
Familiarity with blockchain analytics platforms (Chainalysis, Elliptic, CipherTrace, or similar)
Knowledge of DeFi protocols, cross-chain bridges, and mixer/tumbler services
Background in financial crimes, AML/KYC compliance, or cyber investigations
Certifications in blockchain forensics or cryptocurrency investigation
