About This Role
This is a rare opportunity to operate as both strategist and builder—a hands-on individual contributor role with outsized influence over how our organization secures private keys, smart contracts, and custody infrastructure. You'll be the go-to authority on cryptographic key management, distributed ledger security, and risk mitigation across our entire digital asset ecosystem, shaping technical direction at the intersection of blockchain innovation and enterprise-grade security.
What You'll Be Doing
Architect and harden custody systems spanning HSMs, MPC (multi-party computation) protocols, and secure key storage solutions
Define and enforce security policies governing smart contract interactions, transaction signing, and asset movement across DeFi and crypto platforms
Lead disaster recovery planning and incident response strategy for mission-critical custody infrastructure
Evaluate emerging cryptographic techniques and distributed systems architectures to strengthen our security posture
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, compliance, and product teams to embed security-first principles into every blockchain integration
Conduct deep technical risk assessments on custody workflows, key rotation procedures, and access control mechanisms
What We're Looking For
5+ years of experience in security engineering, with direct exposure to cryptocurrency custody, key management, or blockchain security
Strong working knowledge of HSMs, MPC protocols, and cryptographic key lifecycle management
Proven ability to design and implement secure architectures for high-value digital asset environments
Deep understanding of smart contract risk vectors and common attack surfaces within web3 ecosystems
Excellent communication skills—able to translate complex security concepts for technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
Self-directed mindset with a track record of owning critical infrastructure decisions independently
Bonus Points
Experience with threshold signature schemes (TSS) or other advanced custody protocols
Familiarity with major blockchain networks (Bitcoin, Ethereum, and emerging layer-1/layer-2 ecosystems)
Background in formal security audits or penetration testing within DeFi or crypto-native environments
Contributions to open-source cryptographic or distributed ledger security tooling
