This isn't a legacy compliance role — it's a chance to shape how a cloud-native prime brokerage platform navigates the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape surrounding crypto and distributed ledger technology. You'll work at the intersection of traditional finance and web3 innovation, ensuring our digital asset offerings meet the highest standards of integrity while enabling the firm to move fast in a complex, global market.
What You'll Be Doing
Design and implement compliance programs tailored to crypto trading, custody, and settlement activities
Monitor evolving regulations around digital assets, DeFi protocols, and distributed ledger systems to keep Clear Street ahead of the curve
Partner with legal, risk, and engineering teams to assess compliance implications of new blockchain-based products and smart contract integrations
Conduct due diligence and risk assessments on crypto counterparties, exchanges, and digital asset custodians
Build surveillance and reporting processes to detect suspicious activity across blockchain transactions
Serve as the internal subject matter expert on crypto regulatory developments, advising leadership on strategic decisions
What We're Looking For
4+ years of compliance experience within financial services, with direct exposure to crypto, blockchain, or digital assets
Strong understanding of AML/BSA requirements as they apply to decentralized finance and virtual currencies
Familiarity with regulatory bodies overseeing digital assets (FinCEN, SEC, CFTC, NYDFS, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate complex blockchain concepts into actionable policy
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where crypto regulation is still taking shape
Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail
Bonus Points
Experience with smart contract auditing or understanding of underlying blockchain protocols
Prior work at a crypto exchange, DeFi platform, or digital asset custodian
Professional certifications such as CAMS or CBP (Certified Blockchain Professional)
Familiarity with institutional prime brokerage or clearing operations
