About This Role
This is a rare opportunity to build a risk function from the ground up at a company operating at the frontier of digital assets. Since 2017, Keyrock has been providing liquidity across 80+ centralized and decentralized exchanges, running market making, options, OTC, DeFi trading, and asset management businesses. As Head of Risk, you'll co-design the firm's entire risk architecture alongside the COO and CIO, shaping how we measure, monitor, and manage exposure across CeFi and DeFi environments.
What You'll Be Doing
Design and own a quantitative risk framework rooted in modern risk theory — covering market, credit, liquidity and systemic risk, including tail risk and stress testing methodologies
Co-architect a firm-wide risk management system with real-time monitoring, data aggregation, and reporting infrastructure across every business line
Build an integrated cross-venue risk view spanning centralized exchanges and decentralized protocols — addressing counterparty risk, smart contract vulnerabilities, collateral efficiency and liquidity fragmentation
Define and deploy advanced risk metrics (VaR, Expected Shortfall, liquidity-adjusted and concentration risk) across trading, treasury and investment functions
Translate traditional finance risk models into crypto-native frameworks, accounting for 24/7 markets, on-chain transparency, oracle risk and protocol-level failure modes
Set the tone for risk culture firm-wide, challenging business lines while enabling scalable, disciplined growth
What We're Looking For
Deep quantitative risk management expertise, with hands-on experience modelling market, credit and liquidity risk
Strong grounding in frameworks akin to McNeil, Frey & Embrechts' Quantitative Risk Management
Proven leadership experience owning risk functions within trading, treasury, or investment environments
Comfort operating across both traditional finance and distributed ledger ecosystems
Exceptional analytical and communication skills, able to challenge senior stakeholders confidently
Experience with spot and derivatives trading risk across digital assets and blockchain-based markets
Bonus Points
Direct experience translating TradFi risk models into crypto-native contexts
Familiarity with DeFi protocols, smart contracts, and on-chain risk exposure
Background working within high-frequency trading or market-making firms
Exposure to building real-time risk aggregation systems from scratch
