This is a rare opportunity to operate as the go-to expert for custody security architecture within a rapidly evolving blockchain and web3 landscape. You'll own key management systems end-to-end, influence risk posture decisions, and work directly with digital asset platforms where precision and security are non-negotiable. As a hands-on individual contributor, you'll set technical direction rather than just follow it.
What You'll Be Doing
Architect and harden key management systems protecting crypto custody infrastructure against emerging threats
Design secure wallet architectures, signing protocols, and smart contract interactions for distributed asset storage
Conduct deep security assessments across custody platforms, identifying vulnerabilities before they become incidents
Partner with engineering and compliance teams to embed security-by-design principles into decentralized finance (DeFi) and custody workflows
Establish and refine incident response protocols specific to digital asset breaches and key compromise scenarios
Serve as the subject matter authority on custody risk, advising leadership on blockchain security strategy
What We're Looking For
5+ years of security engineering experience, with direct exposure to cryptographic key management or digital asset custody
Strong understanding of blockchain protocols, smart contracts, and distributed ledger security models
Hands-on experience with HSMs, multi-party computation (MPC), or threshold signature schemes
Proven ability to design secure systems from the ground up in high-stakes, high-availability environments
Excellent communication skills to translate complex crypto security concepts to cross-functional stakeholders
Self-directed mindset comfortable operating with significant ownership and minimal oversight
Bonus Points
Experience securing DeFi protocols or decentralized exchanges
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing digital asset custody
Contributions to open-source blockchain security tooling
Background in penetration testing custody or wallet infrastructure
