Staff Android Software Engineer, Cash App Consumer Platform
"About The Role"
About This Role
Cash App's Consumer Platform team builds the shared systems and tooling that every engineer across our ecosystem relies on. As a Staff Android Engineer, you won't just write code—you'll architect the patterns and platforms that make exceptional engineering the default, while helping define what AI-native development looks like across a distributed, crypto-forward fintech organization. This is systems-thinking work with organizational-scale impact.
What You'll Be Doing
Own and evolve core Android infrastructure—modularization, dependency injection, navigation, and app lifecycle systems that underpin our entire platform
Design shared libraries and frameworks that feature teams depend on daily, built with both developer experience and AI compatibility in mind
Drive architectural decisions for Android that compound in value over time, creating durable technical leverage
Build and open-source platform innovations that benefit the broader engineering community
Establish rapid experimentation frameworks that support fast iteration in an AI-accelerated development environment
Partner cross-functionally with iOS, Web, and backend teams to ensure consistent, high-quality experiences across all surfaces
What We're Looking For
Deep expertise in Android platform engineering, with a track record of building scalable, foundational systems
Staff-level experience driving technical strategy and influencing engineering culture across large organizations
Genuine conviction that AI represents a transformative shift in how software gets built—and a desire to act on it
Proven ability to identify unnamed problems and proactively lead solutions without waiting for direction
Strong collaboration skills across distributed, cross-platform engineering teams
Comfort operating at organizational scope, influencing hundreds of engineers through platform decisions
Bonus Points
Experience with emerging AI development tools (Claude Code, GPT/Codex, Goose, or similar)
Background working on decentralized or blockchain-adjacent financial products
History of open-sourcing developer tooling or platform frameworks
Familiarity with observability and performance tooling at scale
Why Join Us
Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits reflecting your organizational-level impact
A distributed-first culture that's supported remote collaboration since day one
The opportunity to shape infrastructure powering a next-generation, universally accessible financial ecosystem
Direct exposure to cutting-edge AI tooling and the chance to define engineering practices for a leading fintech platform
