Staff Distributed Systems Engineer

What You'll Be Doing
Design and scale high-throughput distributed systems that power real-time on-chain trade execution
Build resilient infrastructure capable of indexing and processing blockchain data across multiple networks
Architect low-latency systems that give traders a competitive edge in fast-moving DeFi markets
Collaborate cross-functionally with product and smart contract engineers to ship features that merge social trading with decentralized finance
Own system reliability, observability, and performance at scale as fomo's user base grows
Mentor engineers and help shape technical standards across the distributed systems team
What We're Looking For
7+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production
Deep understanding of consensus, consistency, and fault-tolerance in distributed architectures
Hands-on experience with blockchain infrastructure, indexing services, or crypto data pipelines
Strong proficiency in backend languages like Go, Rust, or Java
Track record of leading technical initiatives from design through deployment
Excellent communication skills and comfort operating in a fast-paced, early-stage environment
Bonus Points
Experience with smart contracts, EVM internals, or multi-chain infrastructure
Background in high-frequency trading systems or low-latency financial applications
Familiarity with DeFi protocols, decentralized exchanges, or on-chain data analytics
Contributions to open-source blockchain or distributed systems projects
