Assistant Vice President, Product Innovation
About This Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape insurance products for the companies defining the future of distributed ledger technology, DeFi, and digital assets. As AVP of Product Innovation, you'll work directly with underwriters and leadership to design coverage solutions tailored to the unique risk profiles of web3 startups, crypto exchanges, and emerging technology ventures. You'll be at the crossroads of insurance strategy and blockchain innovation, building products that don't yet exist in the traditional market.
What You'll Be Doing
Design and launch specialty insurance products tailored to blockchain, crypto, and decentralized finance businesses
Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, legal, and actuarial teams to assess emerging risks in smart contracts, token economies, and distributed systems
Research market trends across the web3 and DeFi landscape to identify new product opportunities
Translate complex crypto and blockchain business models into actionable insurance frameworks
Collaborate with external partners, brokers, and crypto-native clients to refine product-market fit
Present product strategies and innovation roadmaps to senior leadership and stakeholders
What We're Looking For
5+ years of experience in insurance product development, underwriting, or related operations roles
Strong understanding of (or genuine curiosity about) blockchain, crypto, and decentralized technologies
Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business and risk frameworks
Exceptional analytical, communication, and project management skills
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving industry where norms are still being written
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or industry certifications a plus
Bonus Points
Prior experience underwriting or building products for crypto exchanges, DeFi protocols, or web3 startups
Familiarity with smart contract risk, digital asset custody, or token-based business models
Existing network within the crypto, blockchain, or fintech innovation community
Background in emerging-risk insurance lines (space tech, biotech, deep tech)
