iCapital's Distributed Ledger Technology group is seeking a Senior Blockchain Backend Engineer to architect an industry-wide decentralized platform transforming how alternative investments are accessed and managed. What You'll Be Doing
Architect and build scalable backend systems powering a blockchain-based platform for alternative investment access
Design and implement smart contracts that automate complex financial workflows within a decentralized ecosystem
Translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical specifications and distributed ledger solutions
Identify opportunities to optimize operational workflows using web3 and crypto-native technologies
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, compliance, and business teams to deliver secure, compliant DeFi-adjacent solutions
Mentor engineers and drive technical standards across the blockchain engineering organization
What We're Looking For
Proven experience architecting backend systems, with hands-on exposure to blockchain, distributed ledger, or smart contract development
Strong grasp of financial markets, particularly alternative investments or private markets infrastructure
Ability to scope complex projects independently and communicate technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
Senior-level engineering experience (8+ years) with a track record of leading technical initiatives
Excellent problem-solving skills applied to real-world business challenges in a regulated environment
Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, product, and compliance functions
Bonus Points
Direct experience with Ethereum, Hyperledger, Corda, or other enterprise distributed ledger platforms
Familiarity with DeFi protocols, tokenization frameworks, or crypto asset infrastructure
Background in fintech, asset management, or capital markets technology
Experience with smart contract security auditing or formal verification
