Data Engineer
About This Role
Veriff is moving toward a governed lakehouse that teams can use self-service. You'll join the Data Engineering team and work closely with senior engineers, with an initial focus on governance across both platforms — access control, handling of personal data, data lifecycle and deletion, and platform cost. You'll own projects end-to-end, with support and mentoring from the team.
What You'll Be Doing
Building and maintaining the governance layer across the Data Lake and Data Warehouse, including access control, personal data handling, and data lifecycle/deletion processes
Working on platform cost optimization, including query and compute tuning for the Data Warehouse
Owning projects end-to-end, from idea through production, with clear communication throughout
Collaborating with analysts, data scientists, ML, and product teams who rely on the data platforms
What We're Looking For
Experience building and running production data pipelines
Strong SQL and Python skills
Hands-on experience with a cloud data platform, ideally AWS (S3, Glue/Spark, Athena/Trino, Redshift)
Experience working with sensitive or personal data, with a security-first mindset
A track record of ownership — taking projects from idea to production while communicating clearly along the way
Bonus Points
Experience with Redshift, Lake Formation, or lakehouse / open table formats (Iceberg, Delta, Hudi)
Experience with dbt and Apache Airflow
Familiarity with GDPR data deletion, data lifecycle processes, or metadata/catalog tools
