Engineering Manager, Compiler
About This Role
As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a small, high-impact team focused on building modular compiler APIs for Solidity code analysis. You will own the product roadmap, provide technical guidance, and foster a collaborative environment, directly contributing to the evolution of Solidity developer tools.
What You'll Be Doing
Provide high-level technical guidance and expertise during code reviews and design decisions.
Act as a mentor and sounding board, ensuring technical alignment with project goals while empowering individual ownership.
Take ownership of projects, ensuring on-time delivery with desired features and quality.
Work with the team to define MVPs, set milestones, and assess project feasibility.
Manage project scope by prioritizing tasks, identifying dependencies, and mitigating risks.
Collaborate with product managers to translate user needs & market trends into a technical roadmap.
Motivate and guide engineers, fostering a culture of learning and development.
Manage a small team (3-4 engineers), taking ownership of the product and shaping its roadmap.
Create alignment across teams, with the community, and stakeholders.
Foster individual growth through thoughtful guidance and mentorship.
What We're Looking For
2+ years of experience directly managing & growing teams, establishing team structure, and ensuring team well-being, ideally in a remote and async setting.
6+ years of experience technically leading projects and driving multi-year roadmaps.
Ability to direct without micromanaging or forcing decisions.
Experience implementing or refining processes around performance reviews, career development, and hiring.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable software architectures.
Strong expertise in conducting code, design, and product launch reviews, identifying potential technical issues or risks, and suggesting improvements.
Bonus Points
Prior experience building compilers or leading compiler projects.
Experience with open-source and/or Rust projects.
