    About This Role

This is a rare opportunity to represent a multi-brand technology powerhouse—spanning Square, Cash App, Afterpay, TIDAL, and more—at the highest levels of federal government. As Director, Federal Affairs, you'll drive advocacy on issues ranging from financial regulation to digital assets, AI, and decentralized systems, ensuring that Capitol Hill and federal agencies understand Block's vision for an inclusive, distributed financial future. You'll join a sharp, mission-driven US Policy Team reporting to the Head of US Public Policy and Government Affairs.

    What You'll Be Doing

Design and execute proactive and reactive engagement strategies with Congress, regulatory agencies, and the Administration on issues impacting crypto, fintech, and decentralized commerce

Serve as a registered lobbyist, spending significant time building relationships on Capitol Hill and within federal agencies

Craft creative messaging strategies to communicate Block's position on emerging technology policy, including blockchain, digital assets, and AI

Stay fluent across a broad policy landscape—financial regulation, consumer protection, tax, trade, privacy, and distributed ledger technology

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to anticipate shifts affecting smart contracts, DeFi, and digital payments

Lead cross-functional processes to build unified, thoughtful responses to policy challenges

    What We're Looking For

8+ years in federal government relations, ideally within financial services or technology sectors on Capitol Hill or in an Executive Agency

Exceptional communication skills—able to translate complex regulatory and blockchain-related issues for diverse audiences

Proven experience navigating multifaceted, high-stakes policy environments

Comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and evolving regulatory landscape

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across legal, product, and policy teams

Unwavering ethics and high personal integrity

    Bonus Points

Familiarity with digital asset regulation, crypto market structure, or decentralized finance policy debates

Experience engaging with regulators on blockchain-related legislation

Demonstrated curiosity about Web3, AI, and emerging distributed technologies

Existing relationships within financial services or tech policy circles

    Why Join Us

Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits package

Remote-first culture built around flexibility, trust, and autonomy

Direct influence over policy shaping the future of blockchain, crypto, and decentralized finance

Collaborate with some of the brightest minds driving economic empowerment through technology
