Product Counsel
About This Role
This is a rare opportunity to embed yourself inside one of the most ambitious blockchain-based identity projects on the planet. You'll work directly with engineers, product managers, and policy teams building World ID, World App, and the Orb — advising on the legal complexities that arise when smart contracts, decentralized networks, and crypto wallets meet real-world regulation. If you love solving novel problems where the law hasn't caught up to the technology, this role is built for you.
What You'll Be Doing
Partner cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to provide legal guidance on new features involving blockchain infrastructure, digital identity, and token-based systems
Review and shape product requirements to ensure compliance with evolving global crypto, data privacy, and decentralized identity regulations
Draft, negotiate, and refine agreements related to smart contracts, APIs, and third-party integrations within the World ecosystem
Assess legal risk for new DeFi-adjacent features, wallet functionality, and World App capabilities before launch
Collaborate with policy and compliance teams to anticipate regulatory shifts affecting distributed ledger products
Translate complex legal frameworks into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders
What We're Looking For
JD with active bar membership and 4+ years of experience in technology law, ideally touching blockchain, crypto, or fintech products
Demonstrated understanding of smart contracts, decentralized systems, and the regulatory landscape surrounding digital assets
Experience advising on data privacy, biometric data handling, or identity verification technologies
Strong ability to balance legal risk with product velocity in a fast-moving web3 environment
Excellent communication skills with a talent for making complex legal concepts digestible
Comfort operating with ambiguity in a space where regulation is still catching up to innovation
Bonus Points
Prior in-house experience at a crypto, DeFi, or blockchain infrastructure company
Familiarity with global crypto regulatory frameworks (MiCA, SEC guidance, etc.)
Experience with hardware products or biometric verification systems
Background in token economics or digital asset compliance
