With $21B traded in 2025 and accelerating adoption as a trusted alternative news source, we're now building perpetual futures infrastructure from scratch — and we need a quant who can architect the math that keeps this crypto-native exchange honest, stable, and resilient. This is a founding quant role for our perps product. You'll partner directly with engineering to construct the pricing and risk systems underpinning a brand-new decentralized derivatives exchange — mark price construction, funding rate design, margin calibration, and liquidation logic. What You'll Be Doing
Architect a robust spot price aggregation methodology across multiple external venues — handling outliers, source weighting, and staleness — so the mark price feeding the liquidation engine is bulletproof
Build and calibrate funding rate mechanics from first principles, including premium calculations, interest components, clamping logic, and settlement timing, keeping perpetual contracts anchored to spot through calm and chaotic markets alike
Lead quantitative due diligence for every new asset listing, setting margin tiers, leverage limits, and open interest caps using volatility and liquidity data
Translate research into unambiguous, production-ready specifications that engineers can implement directly
Own the full lifecycle: ship your models into live smart contract-driven systems, monitor performance, and iterate as real market conditions evolve
Investigate anomalies in mark prices or venue divergences in real time, continuously hardening the system against adversarial and illiquid conditions
What We're Looking For
Proven quant experience at a perpetuals exchange, crypto trading desk, or HFT firm, with hands-on ownership of mark price, funding rate, or margin systems in production
Deep fluency in derivatives exchange mechanics — you can design and defend a complete funding formula, index methodology, and margin model from scratch
Sharp market microstructure intuition across both traditional and decentralized venues, understanding how liquidity and latency distort price signals
Strong Python skills with the ability to ship production-grade code, not just prototypes
A builder's mindset — you specify, implement, and own your work end-to-end
Rigorous edge-case thinking, anticipating outages, volatility shocks, and adversarial conditions before they happen
Bonus Points
Experience designing oracle systems or multi-source price feeds for DeFi or blockchain-based platforms
Familiarity with smart contract-based settlement and on-chain risk parameters
Background working within distributed, decentralized trading infrastructure
