About This Role
Startale Group is on a mission to build the next civilization by bringing the world on-chain. Backed by ~$70M in Series A funding from Sony and SBI, we operate at the intersection of blockchain infrastructure, stablecoins, payments, and consumer apps. You'll join as either the first dedicated quality engineer for Strium—a fully on-chain exchange built with SBI—or help scale the test infrastructure behind Startale App, our digital asset super app already serving 170,000+ monthly users on its way to millions.
What You'll Be Doing
Define quality standards, release criteria, and quality metrics for mission-critical crypto trading systems
Design, build, and operate scalable E2E automated testing frameworks (Playwright and similar tools) from the ground up
Validate core trading logic including order matching, price impact, fee calculations, and thousands of user paths across smart contract-driven systems
Modernize and extend existing E2E test infrastructure to support hypergrowth of a decentralized consumer app
Build API testing suites verifying consistency between backend responses and frontend behavior across distributed systems
Conduct load and stress testing simulating high-throughput blockchain transaction environments
Partner cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to define testable acceptance criteria
What We're Looking For
5+ years in SDET, quality engineering, test automation, or software engineering roles
Strong production coding ability (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred; Java/Python acceptable)
Proven track record building scalable test automation frameworks and reusable libraries from scratch
Hands-on experience with E2E frameworks (Playwright/Cypress) and API testing (REST/JSON-RPC/WebSocket)
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with Docker/containerized environments
Background testing complex distributed systems, fintech, or financial products involving transactional and organizational complexity
Comfort operating as the sole QA/SDET on a team, proactively clarifying ambiguous requirements
Advanced English fluency (our working language) and curiosity to learn blockchain domains quickly
Bonus Points
E2E automation experience with exchanges, securities, or financial systems
Experience building internal quality engineering platforms as software products
Familiarity with load/stress testing tools (k6, Artillery, Gatling, Locust) and observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
Knowledge of blockchain, smart contracts, on-chain transactions, or trading concepts (slippage, liquidity, order flow)
Experience with LLM-powered test generation and AI-assisted quality engineering
Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure experience
