About This Role
Startale Group is a Japan-born, globally operating venture building the vertically integrated infrastructure for on-chain finance—chains, stablecoins, payments, and applications. Backed by SBI and Sony with roughly ¥10B raised in Series A, we've shipped Japan's first trust-backed yen stablecoin (JPYSC), launched the entertainment-focused blockchain Soneium, and are now building Strium, a fully on-chain exchange akin to a decentralized Tokyo Stock Exchange. Our Startale App already serves 170K+ monthly users as the gateway into this ecosystem.
What You'll Be Doing
Define quality standards, release criteria, and quality metrics for mission-critical crypto trading systems
Architect and own scalable E2E automation frameworks (Playwright and similar) from the ground up—automation makes up 80-90% of this role
Validate core exchange logic including trade execution, price impact, fee calculations, and thousands of user paths across the decentralized order book
Modernize and extend existing E2E test infrastructure to support Startale App's growth from hundreds of thousands to millions of users
Build API testing coverage verifying consistency between backend responses and frontend behavior across REST/JSON-RPC/WebSocket interfaces
Design load and stress testing strategies for high-throughput systems, plus reproducible test environments and data pipelines
Partner cross-functionally with engineering and product to define testable acceptance criteria for smart contracts and distributed systems
What We're Looking For
5+ years professional experience with advanced English proficiency (English is our working language)
Proven ability to write production-quality code (JS/TypeScript ideal; Java/Python acceptable)—you're an engineer who builds maintainable systems, not just test scripts
Track record building scalable automated test frameworks and reusable test libraries from scratch
Hands-on experience with E2E frameworks (Playwright/Cypress) and API testing across REST/JSON-RPC/WebSocket protocols
CI/CD integration experience with containerized test environments (Docker)
Background testing complex distributed systems or fintech products, handling both technical complexity (transaction consistency, async processing) and organizational complexity (multi-team coordination)
Self-directed mindset to operate as the sole QA/SDET on a product team, clarifying ambiguous requirements independently
Bonus Points
E2E automation experience with exchanges, securities, or financial systems
Experience building internal developer productivity or quality engineering platforms
Load/stress testing expertise (k6, Artillery, Gatling, Locust) and observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
Knowledge of blockchain, smart contracts, on-chain transactions, or AI-assisted test generation using LLMs
