    About This Role

OpenZeppelin is looking for an experienced, commercially-minded lawyer to support legal matters across a growth-stage blockchain security company helping the world move onchain. As a member of our operations team, you'll report to the Associate General Counsel, manage legal operations, and drive our commercial contracting process. You'll also advise on the broad range of legal issues typical of a remote, global tech company, balancing legal considerations with company values and strategic goals. This role offers a unique chance to work at the intersection of blockchain technology, high-growth business operations, and law.

    What You'll Be Doing

Draft, negotiate, and close a wide variety of agreements, managing the process behind all client and vendor contracts, and supporting commercial and contractual matters and deal flow for OpenZeppelin

Proactively provide risk-weighted advice to business leaders, balancing commercial upside against legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk

Collaborate with and support the General Counsel on intellectual property strategy and licensing (with a focus on open source issues), privacy, compliance, acquisitions, and other matters

Partner with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance, Operations, HR, and IT & Security

Design and execute automated processes for contracting and contractual compliance, using AI and other advanced tools

Design and run staff trainings and compliance practices across a range of topics, consistent with the requirements of a regulated, publicly-traded organization

Manage legal records and corporate governance processes for entities across multiple jurisdictions

Take on additional projects to help the company meet its goals, including ones of personal interest

    What We're Looking For

8-10 years of relevant legal experience, including in-house experience at a high-growth company in the blockchain and digital assets space

Demonstrated experience and comprehensive knowledge drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements in the blockchain space, including open source expertise

Highly analytical, with strong attention to detail

Creative problem-solving and negotiation skills, with a pragmatic, business-minded approach to legal analysis and risk assessment

Comfort with high levels of responsibility and self-direction, strong follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to non-lawyers

A law degree and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction

    Why Join Us

Meet teammates at company gatherings around the world

Fully remote work with flexible time off

8 weeks of paid leave for primary caregivers, 4 weeks for secondary caregivers, and a one-time $3,600 baby bonus

Up to $500 in home office equipment support

    Medical insurance

    Learning and development opportunities

Monthly stipend for a preferred co-working space
