About This Role
Parity, founded by Dr. Gavin Wood—co-creator of Ethereum, architect of the EVM, and author of Solidity—builds the core infrastructure powering Polkadot and the wider distributed ledger ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership and deep technical craft, giving you the chance to define what world-class reliability means in a decentralized, 24/7, mission-critical environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead a skilled team of SRE engineers maintaining infrastructure for Polkadot's test and production networks
Set technical direction across deployment pipelines, observability systems, and parachain development environments
Establish and refine SLOs, error budgets, and blameless postmortem practices tailored to blockchain operations
Champion automation initiatives that eliminate repetitive toil and free engineers for high-impact work
Oversee infrastructure supporting node operators, developers, and live Web3 applications across varying stability tiers
Build systems and processes resilient enough for always-on, high-stakes smart contract and network environments
What We're Looking For
Strong grounding in distributed systems and large-scale infrastructure management
Proven leadership experience running or scaling a serious SRE function, with fluency in reliability engineering principles
A track record of building automation-first cultures within technical teams
Demonstrated success mentoring and growing engineers into senior or leadership roles
Comfort operating in unconventional, fast-evolving environments—blockchain experience isn't required, but curiosity is essential
Credibility with technically elite engineers, even without being the most senior specialist in the room
Bonus Points
Prior exposure to blockchain, crypto, or decentralized network operations
Familiarity with Polkadot, parachains, or similar distributed ledger architectures
Experience supporting DeFi protocols or other mission-critical Web3 applications
