As a Staff Backend Engineer, you'll architect the distributed systems that keep DeFi running at planetary scale. What You'll Be Doing
Lead technical projects end-to-end—from concept and system design through deployment and iteration
Architect resilient, high-throughput backend systems built for reliability, scalability, and performance in a 24/7 crypto environment
Write and review production-grade code, setting the engineering bar across teams
Guide architectural decisions and mentor engineers navigating complex distributed systems challenges
Champion engineering best practices and raise the technical standard across the organization
Drive cross-pod initiatives that deliver organization-wide infrastructure improvements
What We're Looking For
10+ years building and operating large-scale, production backend systems
Prior experience as a Technical Lead or in a comparable senior leadership role
Deep expertise in cloud architecture, distributed systems, and algorithmic design
Proven track record independently owning projects from requirements through deployment
Strong mentorship instincts with a history of developing engineering talent
A builder's mindset—comfortable creating systems and processes from zero
Genuine enthusiasm for crypto, smart contracts, and the evolving web3 landscape
Bonus Points
Experience with time-series monitoring and observability tooling
Familiarity with TypeScript, Go, GraphQL, and AWS
Computer Science degree or equivalent technical background
An appreciation for unicorns (literal or figurative)
