About This Role
As a Staff Platform Engineer, you'll be at the technical core of Gemini's mission—designing and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps a global crypto exchange running smoothly and securely. What You'll Be Doing
Architect and scale high-availability infrastructure supporting crypto trading, custody, and DeFi-adjacent services
Design robust CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks that accelerate secure deployment of blockchain-integrated applications
Collaborate cross-functionally with security, SRE, and product engineering teams to harden platform resilience
Lead infrastructure-as-code initiatives across cloud-native and containerized environments
Troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues impacting uptime, latency, and transaction throughput
Mentor engineers and establish best practices for platform reliability across the organization
What We're Looking For
8+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or site reliability engineering roles
Deep expertise with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
Strong understanding of distributed systems design, networking, and security fundamentals
Experience operating mission-critical, high-throughput systems at scale—fintech or crypto experience a strong plus
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset suited to fast-paced web3 environments
Proven track record of driving technical strategy and influencing engineering culture
Bonus Points
Direct experience with blockchain infrastructure, node operations, or smart contract deployment pipelines
Familiarity with crypto custody systems, wallet architecture, or DeFi protocols
Background in regulated financial environments or exchange platforms
Contributions to open-source infrastructure or distributed ledger projects
