About This Role
Dune's Data Foundation team owns the entire lifecycle of blockchain data—from ingestion into our distributed ledger pipelines to how it's represented and delivered externally. This role sits at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems and web3 innovation, ideal for someone who thinks deeply about scaling patterns and wants to shape how the industry interacts with on-chain data across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and beyond.
What You'll Be Doing
Translate ambiguous product requirements into concrete technical designs, modeling domains and defining interfaces for complex data workflows
Decompose large-scale problems into shippable units of work, sequencing delivery so value lands early and often
Drive architectural decisions across our data platform, owning critical components from design through production
Build across our polyglot stack—Go, Kotlin, Rust, and Python—selecting the right tool for distributed processing and data lake challenges
Engineer for correctness and performance at real-world volume, handling massive ingestion pipelines and decentralized data processing
Elevate team standards through rigorous design reviews and mentorship across a fully distributed engineering org
What We're Looking For
Strong computer science fundamentals and generalist instincts that let you adapt quickly across distributed systems and blockchain data challenges
A first-principles thinker who makes assumptions explicit and derives solutions rather than defaulting to familiar patterns
Proven experience designing and shipping distributed data systems—understanding their contracts, failure modes, and scaling limitations
Comfort operating in ambiguity, engaging directly with product and customers, then committing to and defending scope
Fluency with AI-assisted development tools, including their limitations and failure modes
Excellent written communication skills suited to a fully remote, distributed team environment
Bonus Points
Hands-on experience with data lake technologies like Parquet, Iceberg, or Delta Lake
Background at a company where data itself was the core product offering
