About This Role
As Staff UX Motion Designer at MetaMask, you'll own the motion language for one of the most widely used wallets in the distributed ledger ecosystem. This isn't decoration work — it's about translating blockchain complexity into intuitive, delightful interactions that build user trust and confidence in smart contract transactions. You'll operate at the intersection of craft and strategy, setting a bar for what motion design means in web3.
What You'll Be Doing
Define and evolve MetaMask's motion design system across mobile, extension, and emerging surfaces
Design fluid, purposeful animations that clarify smart contract interactions, transaction states, and wallet security flows
Partner closely with product designers, engineers, and researchers to embed motion thinking early in the product process
Prototype high-fidelity interactions that demonstrate how motion can reduce friction in decentralized app usage
Mentor designers across the org, raising the overall motion craft within a fast-moving crypto product team
Collaborate with brand and marketing to ensure motion consistency across MetaMask's entire web3 presence
What We're Looking For
7+ years of experience in motion design, UX design, or a closely related craft, ideally within consumer tech or fintech
A portfolio showcasing systemic motion thinking — not just one-off animations, but scalable design systems
Deep fluency in tools like After Effects, Principle, Protopie, or Lottie, paired with strong collaboration skills with engineers
Genuine curiosity about blockchain, DeFi, and decentralized technologies, with a desire to simplify them for mainstream users
Strong communication skills and comfort presenting design rationale to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership
Self-direction and comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced, distributed team environment
Bonus Points
Prior experience designing for crypto wallets, exchanges, or other blockchain-native products
Familiarity with Ethereum, smart contracts, or broader web3 infrastructure
Experience building or contributing to open-source design systems
Background in accessibility-focused motion design
