This is a rare opportunity to operate at the intersection of traditional finance and decentralized innovation. As Vice President of Legal, you'll advise across GSR's venture capital, broker-dealer, and asset management lines, shaping how we structure deals, manage regulatory risk, and scale our presence in global crypto markets. No two days will look the same — one moment you're negotiating a commercial agreement, the next you're untangling a digital-asset regulatory question.
What You'll Be Doing
Drive strategic transactions — M&A, venture investments, and corporate deals — from structuring and diligence through negotiation and close
Act as trusted legal counsel to GSR's regulated businesses, including asset management, broker-dealer, and CTA operations
Draft and negotiate commercial, investment, and client agreements spanning digital assets, DeFi products, and traditional finance
Advise internal teams on securities and crypto regulatory matters across U.S. and international jurisdictions
Lead regulatory registrations, exemptions, and coordination with outside counsel
Oversee corporate governance essentials — filings, resolutions, NDAs, vendor contracts — with support from the broader legal team
What We're Looking For
4–7 years post-qualification experience, licensed in New York or another U.S. jurisdiction
Top-tier law firm training, ideally paired with in-house experience at a financial institution
Proven deal experience across M&A, capital markets, securities regulation, or financial services
Comfort moving fluidly between transactional, regulatory, and corporate legal work
Strong commercial instincts and the ability to operate independently in a flat, entrepreneurial structure
A collaborative mindset — ready to flex across shifting business priorities rather than a single practice niche
Bonus Points
Prior exposure to blockchain, smart contracts, or cryptocurrency-related legal work
Background advising funds, trading firms, or other asset management entities
Familiarity with digital asset regulatory frameworks and distributed ledger technology
