Customer Activation Manager | AI Spend
"About The Role"
About This Role
Ramp is hiring a Customer Activation Manager for AI Spend Management and Router. AI Spend Management helps Finance and Engineering teams see connected AI spend, understand changes, and assign ownership; Router helps builders direct AI model requests. In this role, you'll guide customers through technical activation, bridge the work of developers and AI administrators with the needs of Finance, and turn initial setup into a durable, repeatable workflow. You'll own the customer plan for AI Spend Management and coordinate with specialist Solutions partners when Router implementations require deeper code integration. Since this is an early-stage product motion, you'll also help shape the implementation playbook as the team learns.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead customer discovery and implementation planning — covering provider connections, prerequisites, ownership, usage visibility, first-use milestones, and follow-through on adoption.
Investigate setup issues by reading API documentation and request/response evidence, addressing problems like credentials, permissions, usage limits, model selection, and product behavior.
Translate AI usage, cost, and governance decisions into language that both technical and finance stakeholders can act on.
Coordinate with Sales, Customer Success, Technical Solutions, Product, and Engineering on deeper Router integrations or code-level issues, ensuring customers always have a clear owner and next step.
Guide customers from a working connection to a genuinely useful usage-review or governance workflow, confirming that the workflow continues to be used after launch.
Document recurring questions and failure patterns to improve customer guidance, troubleshooting steps, and internal playbooks.
What We're Looking For
Roughly 4+ years of relevant experience in technical customer success, technical account management, implementations, solutions consulting, or a similar customer-facing role; level is flexible based on experience.
A track record of owning technical customer launches from handoff through verified first use and sustained adoption.
Ability to read API documentation and reason through request/response evidence, authentication, permissions, and integration issues (production coding is not required).
Working knowledge of multiple AI providers and the tradeoffs customers weigh around capabilities, cost, latency, reliability, usage limits, and data handling.
Ability to communicate credibly with developers or AI administrators while also speaking plainly with Finance leaders, keeping both groups aligned on the launch plan.
Comfort tackling unfamiliar problems, escalating issues with useful supporting evidence, and building repeatable process in a fast-changing product environment.
Bonus Points
Experience with AI gateways, model routing, provider integrations, token usage, AI spend controls, or API-key governance.
Post-sale implementation experience at an AI-first or developer-facing software company.
Coding literacy or experience partnering with Solutions or Engineering teams on customer integrations.
