About This Role
As Director of Business Systems & Platform Engineering, you'll architect the next generation of our internal technology stack—shifting from legacy, admin-heavy systems to a modern, API-first, AI-augmented platform architecture. This is a rare opportunity to lead a technical transformation at a company whose core mission is securing the future of blockchain and crypto ecosystems. What You'll Be Doing
Lead the transformation of our systems organization from traditional IT administration toward a platform and data engineering powerhouse
Own the end-to-end technical architecture, roadmap, and delivery across business systems, enterprise data pipelines, and integrations
Directly manage and mentor engineering managers and technical leads, building career pathways across a growing organization
Establish unified engineering standards, workflows, and AI-augmented operating practices across platform, data, and integration teams
Partner cross-functionally with Product, Success, and Program Management to translate business requirements into technical execution
Serve as the technical authority for vendor and partner relationships, reviewing architecture proposals and approving system designs
Own security posture, RBAC, and data governance across business platforms with an audit-first mindset
What We're Looking For
8+ years in software, platform, or data engineering, with 4+ years leading engineering managers and technical teams
Proven track record building organizational depth—hiring, mentoring, and eliminating single points of failure
Comfort navigating ambiguity within an active technical transformation
Deep ownership of engineering practices: CI/CD, code review standards, testing discipline, and repo governance
Experience leading mixed technical orgs spanning engineers, data engineers, and systems administrators
Strong fluency in event-driven, service-oriented architectures using TypeScript/Node.js within serverless AWS environments
Hands-on expertise with REST/GraphQL APIs, OAuth, JWT, and modern smart contract-adjacent authorization strategies
Solid grounding in data engineering fundamentals: SQL, Python, dbt, pipeline orchestration, and medallion architectures
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code platforms like Terraform
Bonus Points
Familiarity with AI-centric engineering workflows and agentic development practices
Prior exposure to blockchain, crypto, or Web3 infrastructure and data systems
Experience architecting decentralized or distributed data models at scale
