Onboarding Analyst
About This Role
Dakota is seeking an Onboarding Analyst to join its compliance team and support the onboarding of both institutional and consumer clients. The role involves conducting KYC, KYB, and due diligence reviews end to end, serving as a point of contact for client CIP questions, and partnering with the Compliance Manager to refine workflows. The goal is to keep onboarding efficient, accurate, and fully compliant with global AML/CTF requirements while delivering a smooth client experience.
What You'll Be Doing
Owning the onboarding lifecycle: managing intake, review, and timely resolution of onboarding and inbound KYC/KYB requests from institutional and consumer clients.
Onboarding institutional clients by reviewing entity documentation, including formation documents, ownership and control structures, and ultimate beneficial owner (UBO) information for businesses, funds, and other legal entities.
Onboarding consumer clients by collecting and verifying identity documentation and completing customer due diligence (CDD) for individual applicants.
Conducting screening and enhanced due diligence: performing PEP, sanctions, and adverse media screening, and completing enhanced due diligence (EDD) where required.
Assessing and escalating risk: evaluating client risk profiles, determining when documentation does not meet the standard, and escalating high-risk cases to the Compliance Manager.
Supporting ongoing monitoring, including periodic client reviews, reporting, regulatory filings, and ad-hoc compliance initiatives.
What We're Looking For
2 or more years of experience in KYC/KYB, AML, compliance, or client onboarding at a fintech, payments, crypto, or financial services company.
Working knowledge of global AML/CTF requirements, FATF standards, and CIP best practices for both institutional entities and individuals, with the ability to apply them in practice.
Familiarity with onboarding/AML platforms, identity verification tools, and screening databases.
Strong attention to detail and organization, including under high volume and tight deadlines, with comfort handling sensitive client data.
Clear, confident written and verbal communication with clients, senior stakeholders, and internal teams, along with sound judgment on when to resolve versus escalate issues.
A proactive, self-directed approach and the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment.
A genuine interest in building a career in AML/CFT compliance.
