Senior Frontend Engineer - Acquisition
About This Role
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll design, implement, and maintain frontend applications that shape the user experience at Alpaca, supporting millions of users trading billions of dollars in assets. You'll join a focused, specialized engineering team responsible for the user experience and product development for Trading API customers—covering both the frontend trading dashboards and the backend systems powering features like elite accounts, high-yield cash, and paper accounts. You'll work closely with users and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality, end-to-end solutions across Alpaca's frontend and backend systems.
What You'll Be Doing
Playing a pivotal role in architecting and developing web and mobile applications
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create responsive, performant, and intuitive user interfaces
Owning the delivery of high-visibility features and projects from design through deployment
Mentoring peers and helping shape the company's technical strategy
What We're Looking For
5+ years of experience in frontend development with TypeScript/React
3+ years of experience in mobile application development for Android and iOS
2+ years of experience with a modern systems programming language such as Golang, C++, or Rust
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to translate product mockups and designs into fully realized user interfaces
Proficiency in HTML and CSS frameworks such as TailwindCSS
A passion for building intuitive, high-performance user interfaces
Experience with REST APIs and WebSockets best practices
Experience with relational databases and SQL
A track record of setting or influencing frontend best practices
Strong attention to detail and appreciation for design aesthetics
Bonus Points
Algo trading experience (professional or personal)
Experience with major cloud platforms (Alpaca primarily uses GCP)
Experience with or understanding of financial markets
Experience working at a startup
Experience working remotely
