Senior Risk Management Specialist, Digital Assets (Blockchain Technology Focus) - Northern Trust

What You'll Be Doing
Design and implement robust risk frameworks tailored to blockchain-based products, custody solutions, and tokenized assets
Assess and monitor risks associated with smart contracts, digital asset custody, and distributed ledger infrastructure
Partner with technology, compliance, and legal teams to evaluate emerging crypto and DeFi protocols before adoption
Conduct due diligence on blockchain networks, counterparties, and digital asset service providers
Produce risk reporting and governance documentation for senior leadership and regulatory stakeholders
Stay ahead of evolving regulations and market dynamics across global crypto and decentralized finance ecosystems
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in risk management within banking, asset servicing, or financial services, ideally with digital asset exposure
Strong understanding of blockchain technology, distributed systems, and cryptocurrency market mechanics
Familiarity with smart contract risk, custody models, and DeFi protocol structures
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex technical risks into actionable business insights
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Bachelor's degree in finance, risk, technology, or related field; relevant certifications a plus
Bonus Points
Hands-on experience auditing or assessing smart contracts
Familiarity with institutional crypto custody platforms and tokenization frameworks
Prior exposure to regulatory sandboxes or digital asset regulatory frameworks (FCA, MiCA, etc.)
Active engagement with the broader web3 and blockchain developer community
