About This Role
Polymarket is looking for a Staff iOS Engineer to help set the technical direction for its iOS product. This is a high-ownership role for someone who understands what's required to build a great trading or wagering experience on mobile — the performance demands, the real-time data challenges, and the UI patterns that make fast-moving information feel intuitive rather than overwhelming. You'll work with product, design, and engineering leadership to define the long-term vision for iOS at Polymarket, drive the architectural decisions behind it, and raise the engineering bar across the mobile org. The ideal candidate has worked in this space before, knows what a great trading or sportsbook app feels like from the inside, and has led the technical strategy behind one.
What You'll Be Doing
Own the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Polymarket's iOS platform — architecture, performance, product quality, and release discipline
Drive foundational architectural decisions that help the codebase scale with the product and team, seeing them through end to end
Lead the design of systems that reliably handle live market data, fast-moving prices, and real-time order state at scale
Set iOS engineering standards and best practices, and help develop the broader mobile team through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship
Partner with backend, product, and design leadership to shape APIs, data contracts, and cross-platform technical strategy
Identify and solve the hardest technical problems across mobile, including performance bottlenecks, reliability gaps, and infrastructure needs
Act as a technical leader and multiplier, influencing direction beyond your own code and shaping how Polymarket builds mobile as a platform
What We're Looking For
Extensive iOS engineering experience, with a track record of leading the architecture of high-quality iOS applications in production at scale
Deep experience building trading, financial, sportsbook, or other real-time products, with an understanding of the domain and its technical demands
Expert knowledge of Swift and the iOS SDK, with strong instincts around performance, memory management, concurrency, and real-time data handling
Proven experience designing apps that consume live data feeds and display fast-moving information reliably and smoothly
Experience setting technical direction across a team or multiple teams, and driving alignment on complex architectural decisions
A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar of the teams around you
A high bar for product quality, caring about how things feel and not just whether they work
Comfort operating with broad ownership and ambiguity in a fast-moving environment
Strong cross-functional communication skills, including the ability to influence product, design, and backend leadership
Bonus Points
Familiarity with WebSockets, streaming APIs, or other real-time data infrastructure
