AML/Compliance Analyst

Reviewing and dispositioning daily transaction monitoring alerts across fiat and crypto activity to flag unusual or suspicious behavior.

Conducting in-depth investigations into complex user accounts and blockchain transactions, writing clear investigative narratives, and preparing and filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with regulators such as FinCEN.

Using on-chain analytics tools (such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic) to trace cryptocurrency flows, identify high-risk wallet activity, and assess illicit finance risk.

Supporting escalated KYC/KYB reviews, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and OFAC sanctions screening.

Working with the CCO and compliance engineering team to tune and refine transaction monitoring rules, reducing false positives while maintaining accurate risk detection.

Collaborating with customer support, engineering, and product teams to embed compliance controls into the Alpaca API ecosystem.

2–5 years of experience in AML, transaction monitoring, or financial crimes compliance at a cryptocurrency exchange, fintech company, or traditional financial institution.

Strong understanding of blockchain technology, digital assets, and the AML risks specific to the crypto ecosystem.

Solid grasp of BSA/AML regulations, OFAC sanctions requirements, and FinCEN guidance on virtual currency.

Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, identify connections across platforms, and produce clear, concise investigative writing.

Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics tools as well as traditional fiat transaction monitoring systems.

Self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, fully remote startup environment.
