About This Role
Chainalysis is building the analytical backbone that transforms raw distributed ledger data into actionable intelligence. Our Data Cloud team operates the real-time streaming pipelines, data lakehouse, and cloud infrastructure that power how the world understands blockchain activity — and we're looking for an Engineering Manager to help this six-person team do the best work of their careers while scaling systems that underpin the future of decentralized finance and crypto compliance.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead and coach a team of six engineers across streaming, lakehouse, serving-layer, and platform infrastructure domains
Remove blockers and shield your team from organizational noise so they can focus on shipping resilient, large-scale data systems
Translate quarterly OKRs into clear sprint plans with defined owners, milestones, and success metrics
Champion engineering excellence — design reviews, architecture decision records, blameless postmortems, and data quality as a core principle in every pipeline
Own on-call and incident response processes to protect the team's capacity for proactive, high-impact engineering
Drive AI adoption across daily workflows, modeling how engineers can integrate AI tools into coding, review, and debugging
Hire exceptional talent and build a diverse, high-performing team that complements existing technical strengths
What We're Looking For
Experience managing 5–10 engineers on data infrastructure, data platforms, or backend systems operating at scale
A genuine servant-leadership mindset paired with a hands-on software or data engineering background
Comfort engaging technically — able to read a Terraform plan, follow a streaming architecture conversation, and ask sharp, informed questions
Proven ability to drive execution through OKRs, sprint planning, and cross-functional alignment
Strong coaching instincts, with a track record of developing engineers toward promotion and growth
Passion for blockchain, crypto, and the broader web3 ecosystem, and excitement about building infrastructure that brings trust to decentralized systems
Bonus Points
Familiarity with Apache Flink, Databricks, or similar streaming and lakehouse technologies
Experience operating infrastructure that supports smart contracts, blockchain analytics, or crypto compliance tools
Background scaling data platforms that serve mission-critical, high-stakes customer use cases
Exposure to AI-driven engineering workflows and tooling adoption at scale
