About This Role
Ether.fi is redefining what it means to bank on blockchain, letting users earn yield through DeFi strategies and spend globally via our crypto-backed credit card. As a Fraud Engineer, you'll be at the intersection of distributed ledger technology and risk management, protecting a lean, highly technical team of ~50 that's been profitable since inception. This is a rare chance to shape fraud prevention infrastructure for a company pioneering real consumer financial applications in web3.
What You'll Be Doing
Design and deploy fraud detection systems that monitor transactions across our Stake, Liquid, and Cash products
Analyze on-chain and off-chain data patterns to identify suspicious activity before it impacts users or smart contracts
Build automated rules engines and anomaly detection models tailored to crypto-native fraud vectors
Partner with engineering and compliance teams to harden our credit card program and DeFi yield products against abuse
Investigate flagged incidents, document findings, and continuously refine detection logic
Stay ahead of emerging fraud tactics unique to decentralized and distributed financial systems
What We're Looking For
Proven experience building fraud or risk detection systems, ideally within fintech, payments, or crypto
Strong technical chops—comfortable writing production-grade code and working with large datasets
Familiarity with blockchain transaction analysis, wallet behavior, or on-chain forensics
Analytical mindset with the ability to spot patterns humans miss and machines might too
Clear communicator who can translate complex fraud signals into actionable insights
Self-starter energy suited to a fast-moving, high-stakes crypto environment
Bonus Points
Experience with DeFi protocols, smart contract auditing, or on-chain analytics tools
Background in card networks, payment rails, or traditional banking fraud systems
Exposure to machine learning models applied to transaction risk scoring
Active participation in the broader web3 or crypto security community
