ClickHouse Engineer
About This Role
Reactive Markets, the 2026 OTC Trading Platform of the Year, operates a network processing over $50 billion in daily volume across FX, Equities, and Cryptocurrency. We're hiring a ClickHouse Engineer to co-own a multi-datacentre, multi-AZ ClickHouse cluster that underpins compliance, billing, and real-time analytics across a decentralized, high-throughput trading infrastructure. This is core-platform engineering — not database administration — for engineers who want genuine ownership of a mission-critical distributed ledger of market data.
What You'll Be Doing
Operate and evolve a multi-AZ ClickHouse cluster on Kubernetes, with rehearsed backup, recovery, and failover procedures
Design schemas, sorting keys, partitions, and materialised views optimized for multi-terabyte, blockchain-scale datasets
Build capacity models, storage tiering, and Grafana-based observability to keep a high-velocity data plant transparent and resilient
Engineer ingestion pipelines (Go-based capture services, Python analytics layer) with correctness and reconciliation gates
Enforce workload isolation across ingest, reporting, and ad-hoc analytics as read demand scales
Leverage modern AI-assisted tooling, including MCP-based access, to run a large-scale platform with a lean, senior team
What We're Looking For
Deep experience with ClickHouse or another columnar/OLAP/time-series store (BigQuery, Redshift, Druid, kdb+)
Strong SQL expertise — execution plans, query tuning, schema design at scale
Proven SRE/operational background owning production data infrastructure: monitoring, incidents, recovery
Solid Linux and Kubernetes fundamentals
Proficiency in Python, Go, R, or MATLAB (Python preferred)
Strong distributed-systems grounding — replication, consistency, and failure handling across decentralized architectures
Bonus Points
Prior exposure to crypto, DeFi, or blockchain trading infrastructure
Experience with smart contracts, web3 data pipelines, or decentralized exchange architecture
Background in financial services or market data systems
Excellent technical writing — proposals, architecture docs, and change management
