About This Role
This isn't your typical accounting seat. You'll own the financial close, controls, and regulatory reporting for Coinbase's registered Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and Broker-Dealer entities—businesses operating at the intersection of traditional finance and the decentralized economy. As blockchain-based products expand into regulated markets, your work directly shapes audit outcomes, product launches, and the financial integrity of entities bridging crypto and compliance.
What You'll Be Doing
Drive the monthly close process for FCM and Broker-Dealer entities—journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and quarterly/annual reporting
Prepare precise, timely regulatory filings for the CFTC, NFA, and other regulators while monitoring capital and liquidity requirements daily
Lead internal and external audit coordination, aligning stakeholders across teams to deliver clean outcomes
Architect and refine internal controls governing accounting, regulatory reporting, and compliance workflows
Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure new crypto and derivatives products launch audit-ready and regulation-compliant
Identify automation opportunities to scale accounting operations as our smart contracts-adjacent and digital asset businesses grow
What We're Looking For
5-7 years of accounting experience across public accounting, industry, or both
Active CPA license plus a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
Hands-on experience with regulatory reporting under FINRA, SEC, CFTC, or NFA frameworks
Ability to translate complex blockchain and derivatives business activity into clear, defensible accounting processes
Strong multitasking skills across close cycles, audits, and reporting deadlines under regulatory pressure
Availability during Eastern Time hours to meet daily filing deadlines
Thoughtful use of generative AI tools with human oversight, driving efficiency gains in workflow and quality
Bonus Points
Prior experience in crypto, web3, or digital asset accounting environments
Familiarity with DeFi products, tokenized assets, or distributed systems reporting requirements
Experience building scalable controls for fast-growing, regulated fintech entities
