About This Role
You'll join our Payments engineering team to build and scale the Airi Consumer Wallet — Airwallex's first consumer-facing wallet application and a networked checkout solution creating persistent shopper profiles across a global merchant network. This is a rare opportunity to shape a greenfield product at the intersection of fintech innovation, distributed systems thinking, and consumer-grade mobile engineering, with direct influence on how millions of transactions flow securely across borders.
What You'll Be Doing
Architect and ship native iOS solutions powering the Airi Consumer Wallet, enabling merchants to capture payments from shoppers anywhere in the world
Build the OCC (One-Click Checkout) mobile experience, driving meaningful improvements to conversion and checkout performance
Collaborate closely with product managers, backend engineers, and design partners to deliver secure, reliable, and developer-friendly mobile infrastructure
Dive into complex real-time transaction scenarios, strengthening fraud prevention and transaction security for a global user base
Contribute cross-platform insight, working alongside Android counterparts to ensure consistent, high-quality experiences
Help shape Airwallex's broader engineering culture and technical roadmap as the company scales rapidly
What We're Looking For
Strong hands-on experience building native iOS applications using Swift, with deep knowledge of Apple's ecosystem and frameworks
Proven track record delivering secure, high-performance mobile products, ideally within fintech, payments, or other trust-critical domains
Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns, API integration, and performance optimization
Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with founder-level ownership and first-principles problem-solving
Excellent collaboration skills across distributed, multicultural engineering teams spanning multiple time zones
Genuine curiosity about emerging payment technologies, including decentralized finance (DeFi) concepts and how distributed ledger thinking could inform future product design
Bonus Points
Working knowledge of Android development for true cross-platform fluency
Exposure to blockchain, crypto, or smart contract technologies and their application in financial infrastructure
Experience building consumer wallet products or digital identity/profile systems
Background contributing to high-growth, globally regulated fintech or web3 platforms
