Senior All-Source Investigator, Severe Harms
"About The Role"
About This Role
TRM Labs builds AI-powered intelligence platforms that empower investigators worldwide to trace illicit finance across decentralized networks and disrupt dangerous actors. Sextortion and CSAM distribution networks have increasingly turned to cryptocurrency, exploiting the speed and pseudonymity of distributed ledgers to move funds across borders faster than any single agency can track. Our Severe Harms pod closes that gap — fusing on-chain and off-chain intelligence to identify offenders and support victim safety, in direct partnership with law enforcement and financial institutions globally.
What You'll Be Doing
Own your caseload end-to-end: drive target packages from referral through legal process, blockchain/off-chain fusion, and final disruption
Conduct all-source collection — blending OSINT, link analysis, and direct source engagement to attribute real actors behind crypto-enabled abuse, not just trace wallets
Produce defensible, court-ready attribution reports and legal-process returns that withstand scrutiny from government partners
Map entire criminal networks operating across decentralized and traditional financial rails, rather than isolated transaction events
Leverage AI tooling to accelerate casework while maintaining critical human judgment on sensitive material
Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, engineering, and external partners to action specific leads
Practice trauma-informed, victim-centered investigative methods per strict evidence-handling protocols
What We're Looking For
3-5 years of investigative experience in illicit finance, financial crime, cybercrime, trust & safety, OSINT, or intelligence-adjacent work — with a track record of driving cases to real outcomes
Demonstrated collection capability — whether building/adapting OSINT tools or direct subject/source engagement (strength in one area is sufficient)
Comfort working across both traditional and crypto/blockchain financial rails to follow money movement
Experience collaborating within multi-stakeholder case teams, including legal and law enforcement partners
Strong written communication skills for producing defensible, actionable intelligence products
Resilience and self-awareness to manage exposure to sensitive content responsibly
Bonus Points
Direct experience with blockchain analytics platforms or smart contract transaction tracing
Background in crypto-native investigations involving DeFi protocols or exchange compliance
Familiarity with mandatory reporting frameworks and victim safeguarding standards
Prior work within law enforcement, intelligence, or trust & safety teams
Why Join Us
Competitive compensation reflecting the gravity and impact of this work
Fully remote flexibility with a mission-driven, tight-knit team
Direct, measurable impact protecting vulnerable people through distributed ledger forensics
Mentorship from experienced Lead Investigators as you build deep expertise in one of web3's most consequential investigative domains
